The National Science Center has announced the second ranking list of the MINIATURA 8 competition. Among the 53 winners was Agnieszka Bzikowska-Jura, MD, PhD, from the Department of Medical Biology. Our researcher has received funding in the amount of PLN 48,529 for the preliminary/pilot study "Breast milk composition and sleep quality of exclusively breastfed infants." The study will include 50 women in the second month of lactation, exclusively breastfeeding. The data obtained will allow analysis of the influence of maternal and environmental factors on the content of selected components of breast milk.

Professor Schmelzle is an expert specializing in cancer surgery and transplant surgery of abdominal organs. To best present trends and opportunities in the surgical treatment of cancer, he made hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) the "hero" of the lecture.

On June 18, 2024, a meeting of deans of pharmacy faculties and members of the Team of the Ministry of Health for the development of changes in the standard of education preparing to practice as a pharmacist with students - representatives of the Agreement of the United Self-Governments of the Faculties of Pharmacy, the Polish Society of Pharmacy Students and the Student Section "Young Pharmacy" operating at the Polish Pharmaceutical Society was held at the headquarters of the Polish Pharmaceutical Society

Kamila Zacharewicz, a third-year nursing student at the Faculty of Health Sciences, took 2nd place on the podium. Thus, she beat 43 people who decided to compete in the XIV Intercollegiate Nursing Olympiad named after Dr. Janina Fetlinskaya. Congratulations!

The event was organized by We Give Children Strength Foundation in cooperation with the Department of Public Health at our university. The event was held under the honorary patronage of the Ombudsman for Children, the Medical University of Warsaw and the Faculty of Health Sciences MUW. - Raising children in well-being is absolutely one of the fundamental rights, but also one of the fundamental behaviors that fall within humanism as well as moral and ethical norms - stressed Prof. Mariusz Gujski, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences during the opening of the conference.

This is not an easy task, but with knowledge of the principles it can be accomplished. These principles were presented in his lecture by Prof. Mariano Sanz, an internationally recognized specialist in periodontology from the Complutense University of Madrid. And he pointed out that well-written papers are important for academic careers.

On June 12, at the invitation of Warsaw Metropolitan Archbishop Cardinal Kazimierz Nycz, a team from the Department of General, Transplant and Liver Surgery hosted a meeting at the Warsaw Archbishops' House. Also present at the meeting was Bishop Andrzej Czaja of Opole, a member of the Permanent Council of the Polish Bishops' Conference. During the meeting, current issues concerning Polish transplantology and new challenges facing it were discussed.

Professor Olczak-Kowalczyk, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and Head of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry MUW, has been appointed by the Minister of Health to serve as a national consultant in pediatric dentistry. The term will last five years.

On May 29, 2024, Dr. Marcin Podgórski of the Department of Emergency Medical Sciences of the Faculty of Health Sciences MUW was appointed a director of the Polish Medical Air Rescue.

Eight members from the Herba and Herbarium scientific circles and their academic teachers from the Faculty of Pharmacy traveled to Lithuania. During the trip, which lasted from May 27 to 31, the group visited sites of exceptional botanical and pharmaceutical importance and participated in discussions on the role of plant substances and compounds of natural origin in modern medicine. The entire event was organized by Lietuvos Sveikatos Mokslu Universitetas in Kaunas.
