Awarded staff of the Medical University of Warsaw
- Habilitated doctor Piotr Myrcha from the 1st Chair and Department of General and Vascular Surgery received an individual award for his scientific activity, for a series of publications on the prevention of ischemic strokes in the context of intracerebral artery stenosis.
- Professor Anna Kostera-Pruszczyk and habilitated doctor Anna Potulska-Chromik from the Department of Neurology of the MUW’s Clinical Center received a team award for teaching achievements and for co-editing and co-authoring the textbook on neuromuscular diseases.
- Professor Piotr Pruszczyk from the Department of Internal Medicine and Cardiology received an individual award for implementation activities, for innovative methods of treating acute pulmonary embolism and thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension.
- Professor Jadwiga Turło from the Chair of Drug Technology and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology received the award for her entire achievements.
- Professor Agnieszka Szypowska from the Clinic of Pediatric Diabetology and Pediatrics received an award on the initiative of the Minister of Health for her organizational activities: development of her Clinic.
Representatives of medical school authorities took part in the ceremony at the ministry’s headquarters. Our teachers were accompanied by Professor Rafał Krenke, rector, and Professor Dorota Olczak-Kowalczyk, vice rector for human resources.
The winners were selected based on applications submitted by rectors of medical universities and on the initiative of the Minister of Health. A total of 25 candidates were proposed in 2024. The applications were assessed by a team of experts including representatives of medical universities and the Center for Postgraduate Medical Education.
“Beyond any doubt, there are outstanding scientists and academic teachers behind achievements of Polish medicine, pharmacy and other cooperating fields of science – wonderful people who shape contemporary history of the aademic medical education system,” emphasized the Minister of Health, Izabela Leszczyna, during the ceremony.
