CWUR ranking: Our university among the top 4.3 percent of the world's universities!

The Center for World University Rankings again evaluated nearly 21,000 universities from around the world, and then created a list of the top 2,000. Our university could not be missing in it. MUW, with a score of 71.1 points, was ranked 897th in the worldwide ranking. This places our university among 4.3 percent of the world's best universities! MUW was also highly ranked in the group of national universities, taking 9th place.

According to the ranking, our university is also the second best Polish medical university. It gives way only to the Wroclaw Medical University (8th place in the ranking of national universities) by 0.1 points.

Which universities were on the podium

On the podium of the list were again three American universities: Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University.
The ranking included 41 Polish universities and research institutes. Among them, Jagiellonian University (75.7 points), University of Warsaw (75.2 points) and AGH University of Science and Technology (73.1 points) took the highest positions.

Indicators for evaluating the universities

The ranking has been published by The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) since 2012. The methodology is based on the following indicators:

  • Quality of education, measured by the number of university’s alumni who have won prestigious academic distinctions relative to the university’s size (25%)
  • Alumni employment, measured by the number of a university's alumni who have held top positions at major companies relative to the university's size (25%)
  • Academic quality, measured by the number of academics who have won academic distinctions (10%)
  • Research:
    - Research Output: measured by the total number of research papers (10%)
    - High-Quality Publications: measured by the number of research papers appearing in top-tier journals (10%)
    - Number of research papers appearing in highly-influential journals (10%) 
    - citations of scientific papers (10%)
