Professor Anna Kostera-Pruszczyk was appreciated for “long years of active work for of patients with neuromuscular diseases, for empathy and great commitment to improving the length and quality of life of patients with rare diseases and for the heart shown to patients, professionalism and systemic activities, including in the development of the Rare Diseases Plan.”
Professor Leszek Czupryniak was awarded for his “professionalism, medical knowledge, helping patients in particularly difficult situations and erudition.” This is his second award in this plebiscite – he received the first one in 2019 in the “Personality in Medicine” category.

Health visionaries from the Medical University of Warsaw
The winners of the previous editions of the “Health Visionaries” competition included:
- professor Artur Mamcarz, head of the 3rd Department of the Clinic of Internal Diseases and Cardiology (in the “Public Health Visionary” category);
- habilitated doctor Tomasz Dzierżanowski, head of the Clinic of Palliative Medicine (in the “Omnia Pro Infirmis 2023” category);
- habilitated doctor Mariusz Wyleżoł from the 2nd Department and Clinic of General, Vascular and Oncological Surgery of the Medical University of Warsaw, head of the Warsaw Center for Comprehensive Obesity Treatment and Bariatric Surgery at Czerniakowski Hospital in Warsaw (in the “Visionary Physician & Community Worker” category);
- doctor Marek Karwacki from the Department and Clinic of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology, Clinical Transplantology and Pediatrics of the Medical University of Warsaw’s Clinical Center, coordinator of the Center for Coordinated Medical Care for Patients with Neurofibromatoses and Derived RASopathies at the Medical University of Warsaw (in the category of “Ambassador of Improvement of Patients’ Quality of Life”);
- professor Wiesław Jędrzejczak, long-time head of the Department and Clinic of Hematology, Oncology and Internal Diseases of the Medical University of Warsaw (in the “Special Award” category);
- professor Katarzyna Borszewska-Kornacka, long-time head of the Clinic of Neonatology and Neonatal Intensive Care of the Medical University of Warsaw (in the “Special Award” category);
- professor Jerzy Szaflik, long-time director of the Ophthalmological Hospital of the Medical University of Warsaw (in the “Special Award – for life’s achievements” category).
