The aim of the conference is to expand theoretical knowledge, improve qualifications and practical skills in laparoscopic techniques and the opportunity to exchange clinical experience.
- Despite the fact that this is the 10th edition of the conference, the event enjoys unflagging interest - emphasizes Dr. Tomasz Guzel of the Department of General, Gastrointestinal and Oncologic Surgery, the organizational and scientific director of the conference.
The organizers again managed to invite a European medical authority: professor Thomas Carus, Head of the Department of General, Gastrointestinal and Vascular Surgery, Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery at Bassum Hospital in Germany, who supervised the progress of the trainees.
Among the participants were both surgical specialists and residents, which did not prevent them from practicing together the techniques of knot tying and suturing in laparoscopy - also in the stapler technique - using "staplers" and with hand suturing. Artificial materials and animal tissues were used for training.
- The conference was once again appreciated by the participants, who emphasized the very high level and uniqueness of the program - says Dr. Tomasz Guzel. - Positive feedback and appreciation are the greatest motivation for us to organize future editions of the event.
The organizer of the conference at MUW has for years been the Department of General, Gastrointestinal and Oncologic Surgery UCC MUW, with support from the Center for Postgraduate Education MUW. Both units are headed by Prof. Maciej Słodkowski.
