- Endocrinology is a field of medicine where we have seen dynamic growth, so the primary goal for our conference is to provide specialized doctors with up-to-date knowledge, and thereby to improve the level of medical care for patients with endocrine disorders - explains Professor Urszula Ambroziak, Head of the UCC MUW Department of Internal Diseases and Endocrinology and organizer of the conference.
- Drug programs have undergone many significant changes. As a result, more patients will have access to safe, modern, and effective therapies, which will significantly improve their quality of life. That is why the topic is worth discussing among experts - adds Professor Tomasz Bednarczuk of the UCC MUW Department of Internal Diseases and Endocrinology, organizer of the conference.
About the conference
The 8th Warsaw Endocrinology Meeting, titled “New therapies for endocrine disorders; new drugs, drug programs, emergency access to medicines, and clinical trials” took place on March 15 at the MUW University Dental Center. The event attracted about 100 attendees.
It was organized by the UCC MUW Department of Internal Diseases and Endocrinology, and co-organized by the Warsaw Section of the Polish Society of Endocrinology, together with its President, Professor Wojciech Zgliczyński. The conference took place under the honorary patronage of the MUW Rector, Professor Rafał Krenke.
Debates on the latest changes in treating endocrine diseases
During the two conference sessions, the discussion revolved around progress in the treatment of a number of endocrine disorders, including acromegaly, Cushing syndrome, growth hormone deficiency, obesity, osteoporosis, disorders of calcium and phosphorus metabolism, Graves’ disease, thyroid cancer, and neuroendocrine neoplasms. The speakers included outstanding specialists from the MUW, the Centre of Postgraduate Medical Education, the National Research Institute of Oncology, and the Military Institute of Medicine (the program is available at https://endokrynologia.wum.edu.pl/).
Each speech was followed by a discussion, where participants could ask questions and share their experiences with the speakers. The conference itself was an excellent opportunity for advancing the clinical cooperation between research centers involved in treating patients with endocrine disorders.
