About the competitions
The National Science Center received a total of 4,359 applications in both competitions: 2255 in OPUS and 2104 in PRELUDIUM. After expert assessment, 719 projects were granted financing, the total value of which was almost PLN 664.8 million.
OPUS is a competition with a broad formula, in which researchers at any stage of their scientific career, regardless of age and experience, can apply for funding for basic research projects. Thanks to the OPUS grant, they can build large research teams, implement projects using huge international research equipment, and cooperate with foreign partners. PRELUDIUM is a competition unique on a global scale that allows its beneficiaries to gain experience in conducting independent research at a very early stage of their careers, even before obtaining a doctoral degree.
