„Ladies and Gentlemen

I am addressing you for the last time as Rector of the Medical University of Warsaw. This is an opportunity to briefly summarize the passing term, to reflect, but also to thank you. The years 2020-2024 were a difficult period for both the country as a whole and for our university. This time posed many difficult and unprecedented challenges for all of us.
Despite unfavorable circumstances, we can boast impressive achievements. We have completed complex investments, including the construction of the Medical Simulation Center, which had been planned for a dozen years. The existing clinical and teaching facilities, including the Rectorate Building, have been modernized. A project to revitalize the Lindleya campus has begun. A multi-year development plan for the Banacha campus was created.

The Medical University of Warsaw is pursuing an unprecedented development in transplantology in Poland - we have started lung and heart transplant programs, developed the area of liver and kidney transplants, the corneal transplant program and the hematopoietic cell transplant program are functioning excellently.

It is worth mentioning that for the first time in the classification of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education we earned an “A” grade in all scientific categories. In turn, in the prestigious “Perspektywy” ranking, we achieved the position of the best medical university in Poland, and we have maintained this position for years.

Successes can also be measured by numbers. We received the largest subsidy among medical universities in our country (PLN 325 million). PLN 820 million has been invested in MUW hospitals, and PLN 710 million in projects carried out by our researchers, an increase of 300 percent compared to 2020. We are finishing this rectoral term in good financial shape.

These achievements are due to the employees of our university - researchers, teachers and those employed in administration. It is to you that we owe our position on the scientific and educational map of Poland.

While thanking you for the past four years, I also extend my best wishes for the future. To everyone for whom MUW has an important place in life, I wish you much success!”
