Our students awarded for work in the field of pharmacoeconomics and drug and health policy

The 22nd International Conference of the Polish Pharmacoeconomic Society was held on November 27-29, 2024. One of the conference sessions was traditionally dedicated to the presentation of student research. Students presented works on issues in the field of pharmacoeconomics and drug and health policy in the form of mini-lectures and posters. Then the works were assessed and awarded. The student session was led by habilitated doctor Anna Staniszewska and habilitated doctor Maciej Niewada from the Chair and Department of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology.

A team of students from various faculties of our university won third place for their orally presented work on “Dietary supplements for children”. Membres of the team were Szymon Ejzak, Izabela Lipnicka, Karolina Kądziela, Artur Ostrysz, Aleksandra Michalska, Zofia Marek, Piotr Fejcak, Jowita Diana Jedlina-Lasak, Katarzyna Bochniak and Marta Skonieczna. Their work was a comprehensive and multi-faceted analysis of the market of dietary supplements dedicated to children.

Student Aleksandra Borowska received an award for her thesis on “Determinants of participation in preventive programs”, prepared under the supervision of habilitated doctor Dominik Olejniczak from the Section of Public Health. It concerned the determination of the conditions for participation in preventive programs in the 18-25 age group, as well as factors motivating and discouraging participation in preventive tests.

Weronika Kornicka was among the students honored for their works presented in the form of posters. Her project “Otitis media with cholesteatoma as a cause of hearing loss – a case study” was carried out under the supervision of doctor Magdalena Frąckiewicz from the Clinic of Pediatric Otolaryngology. Student Katarzyna Opoczyńska received an award for her poster presenting the Dutch health care market.

The Polish Pharmacoeconomic Society organizes an annual conference during which participants discuss the latest trends and solutions in pharmacoeconomics and exchange knowledge with experts from Poland and abroad.
