At the invitation of the team of the Department of Otolaryngology and Maxillofacial Surgery in Lviv, professor Kazimierz Niemczyk and doctor of medical sciences Robert Bartoszewicz from the Clinic of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery of the Medical University of Warsaw’s Clinical Center performed 12 specialized surgeries on patients with head and neck injuries.
That was the third stay of these specialists from Warsaw at the Clinical Municipal Communal Emergency Hospital in Lviv during the past year. This time, facial nerve reconstruction surgery, cochlear implantation and tympanoplasty surgery were performed in patients with injuries sustained on the battlefield. At the same time, training was provided to employees of the otolaryngology department so that they could perform this type of surgery on their own in the future. Doctor Adrian Onutchak and doctor Oleg Yaremchuk, as well as resident physicians of the department, participated in the training. Further training is planned for early next year.
