Students and Graduates with Rector’s Awards for Scientific Achievements

The Rector's awards for the preparation of outstanding scientific papers—or participation in their preparation—were presented to three students and six graduates. Diplomas were handed out by Prof. Marcin Sobczak, Vice Rector for Science and Technology Transfer, during the Senate meeting held on 31 March.

First-Degree Individual Award

Presented to Przemysław Kasiak, a student at the Faculty of Medicine, for the following papers: “Validity of the Maximal Heart Rate Prediction Models among Runners and Cyclists” and “VO2max prediction based on submaximal cardiorespiratory relationships and body composition in male runners and cyclists: a population study”.

Second-Degree Individual Award

Presented to:

  • Katarzyna Strzelecka, a graduate of the Faculty of Pharmacy, for her paper titled “Dual-controlled delivery of furosemide and atenolol using a biodegradable nanosystem for antihypertensive therapy”;
  • Krzysztof Łuszczyński, a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine, for his paper titled “Role of the ABCA4 Gene Expression in the Clearance of Toxic Vitamin A Derivatives in Human Hair Follicle Stem Cells and Keratinocytes”. 

Third-Degree Individual Award

Presented to:

  • Jakub Zimodro, a student at the Faculty of Medicine, for his paper titled “AngioScore: An artificial intelligence tool to assess coronary artery lesions”;
  • Paweł Tyrna, a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine, for his paper titled “Prognostic Impact of Copy Number Alterations’ Profile and AID/RAG Signatures in Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) with BCR::ABL and without Recurrent Genetic Aberrations (NEG ALL) Treated with Intensive Chemotherapy”;
  • Grzegorz Procyk, a student at the Faculty of Medicine, for the following papers: “Can Color Doppler Ultrasound Be Effectively Used as the Follow-Up Modality in Patients Undergoing Splenic Artery Aneurysm Embolization? A Correlational Study between Doppler Ultrasound, Magnetic Resonance Angiography and Digital Subtraction Angiography” and “Diagnostic value of soluble urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor in patients with acute coronary syndrome: A systematic review and meta-analysis”.

Second Degree Team Award

It was presented to the graduates of the Faculty of Medicine: Agata Gaweł, Paweł Tyrna, Jędrzej Machtyl and Monika Olszanecka for their paper titled “Homotypic Entosis as a Potential Novel Diagnostic Marker in Breast Cancer”.

All awarded papers were published or accepted for publication in 2023.
