We are all in tune! - Unveiling of the GOCC mural at the MUW

A mural commemorating the 32nd Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity has been unveiled at the Department of Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases and Allergy MUW.

- We usually meet on the occasion of the opening of a new department or the handover of needed medical equipment. Today, however, it will not be about equipment, but about people and emotions - said the host of the ceremony, Prof. Rafal Krenke, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases and Allergy MUW. - We were very happy to hear the slogan of the 32nd finale of the Orchestra, “Lungs after the pandemic. We play for children and adults.” The joy stemmed not only from the fact that we had the prospect of receiving specialized equipment, but above all from the fact that the topic of lung diseases appeared in the public space - the professor stressed. And he added: This year we particularly wanted to support the Orchestra - there was a big mobilization in our department. We organized more than 20 different auctions. The result of one of them is the mural that has just been unveiled. And the names of the donors are engraved on the plaques hanging next to it. I hope that the slogan “We are all in tune” seen on the mural will accompany us in all aspects of our activities - both when it comes to patient care and student care - Professor Krenke concluded.

The important role of experts

Meanwhile, Prof. Zbigniew Gaciong, Rector of MUW, in his short speech pointed out that in the latest edition of GOCC, Medical University of Warsaw played a special role:

- We have been playing with the orchestra since the beginning of the world. However, the 32nd edition was special for us, because we performed in it as a group of experts. This is a great honor and distinction for the university - the Rector stressed.

Jerzy Owsiak, founder and chairman of the GOCC, who unveiled the mural together with Prof. Rafal Krenke, could not be absent from the ceremony. Jerzy Owsiak also referred to the role of experts in the 32nd GOCC Finale.

Top-of-the-line medical equipment

- The experts are the ones who decide when we purchase medical equipment, and we will be doing it soon. We ask them what is best in a particular area. Ahead of us is the first tender competition. We are buying 461 top-of-the-line medical devices - for diagnosis, treatment and pulmonary rehabilitation. The equipment will go to 123 wards in 87 adult facilities and 24 children's wards in 24 facilities - the GOCC president announced.

The mural in the Department of Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases and Allergy MUW is the 9th mural and 85th place to bear the name of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity. It was designed by Jerzy Owsiak and a team of graphic designers from the GOCC Foundation.

In addition to the people mentioned in the text above, the ceremony was attended by Prof. Paweł Włodarski, Vice Rector for International Relations, Development and Promotion, Adam Przybyłkowski, MD, PhD, UCC MUW Vice Director for Treatment at the Banacha Location, heads of many MUW units, the team of the Department of Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases and Allergy as well as students.
