Winners of the 2nd edition of MUW participatory budget announced

As decided in a majority vote, financing will be awarded to two student-proposed projects: additional furnishings for the student cloakroom at the CSH at the UCC MUW, and for creating a work&chillout area for students on call at the same institution. From among employee-lead projects, the voters selected two: the comprehensive modernization of break rooms in the ZIAM building as well as setting up a bicycle shed at the Banacha Campus. Nearly 1700 people cast their votes between February 18 and 22.

In November last year, the 2nd edition of the university-wide competition was launched for projects created by members of the university community and meant to improve the efficiency of work and study at the MUW. Anyone who had an idea for what should change and how could submit their proposal in December. The 16 entries submitted were then evaluated on their formal and substantive merits, and those deemed eligible were put to a vote.

All members of the academic community were invited to vote. Each voter could select three projects. Undergraduate and PhD students not employed by the MUW made their choices from initiatives submitted by students, while university employees and PhD students that are also MUW employees selected employee-led projects.

Projects that won a majority

Five student-led and five employee-led projects were found to be eligible for voting. A total of 3313 votes were cast during the voting period. Student-led projects attracted 1332 votes, with 339 votes cast for employee initiatives. The winners:
