Dr. Monika Gawałko with the Golden OTIS Trust Award

The laureate is a clinical scientist in the 1st Chair and Department of Cardiology UCC MUW. She received the Golden OTISA statuette in the "Scientific Debuts" category. The Committee's Scholarship Panel also awarded her the Second Trust Award Scholarship. This award is given for an original, defined scientific achievement or a novel implementation solution in the field of medicine, documented by publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Scientific achievements

Dr. Monika Gawałko has been recognized for her research work on atrial fibrillation, the most common fixed heart rhythm disorder. Her scientific achievements to date have been rewarded with, among others, a scholarship from the Minister of Science and Higher Education for Outstanding Young Scientists and a scholarship from the "L'Oréal-UNESCO Women in Science" program.

Award with a mission

The Golden OTIS Trust Award is given to outstanding physicians, pharmacists, journalists and patient organizations, as well as pharmaceutical companies. As its creators add - it is "an award with a mission, recognizing and supporting those areas of health care that have been overlooked by decision-makers."
The plebiscite has been organized since 2004 by the Golden OTIS Trust Award Institute with the cooperation of "Świat Lekarza" magazine and the following portals: pacjenci.pl, nazdrowie.pl, zlotyotis.pl, swiatlekarza.pl and medycynawpolsce.pl, as well as professional organizations of health care communities in Poland.
