MEiN settled the competition Social Responsibility of Science II - Popularization of Science

One project from our university has been qualified for funding. Its leader is Professor Artur Stolarczyk, head of the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation. The topic: Popularization of science on the example of connective tissue destruction in a diabetic animal model.

The project will be carried out for a year. Due to a grant of PLN 150,000, PhD students at the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation will be able to conduct research using animal models. The research will help raise public awareness of the devastating effects of diabetes on connective tissue. The project also aims to find molecular pathophysiological mechanisms that have the potential to serve the development of targeted treatments. The results will benefit everyone with diabetes, which is expected to reach 500 million people worldwide by the end of 2023.

Conducting research as part of the project will also contribute to the popularization of science, as students will participate in it (actively and passively). The results will be disseminated, and educational activities will also be organized. Activities have been planned to reach the widest possible audience: publication of articles in English, monographs in Polish, organization of workshops, seminars promotional activities in social media.

The project will be conducted in cooperation with the Institute of Animal Genetics and Biotechnology of the National Academy of Sciences.
