Our scientist at the prestigious orthopedic symposium

The International Symposium on Orthopaedic Oncology (BOOM) was held in Birmingham. Scientists met to develop the first consensus on the treatment of chondrosarcoma and strategies for treating peri-prosthetic infection after resection of bone tumors. Paweł Łęgosz, MD, PhD, Head of the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology of the Locomotion System UCC MUW, was invited to join the Scientific Committee.

- In the literature, there are often divergent opinions on the best way to treat chondrosarcoma. The consensus meeting was intended to help clinicians learn the general opinion on the subject and choose the best treatment option - Pawel Łęgosz, MD, PhD, explained the purpose of the symposium.

Within BOOM, our scientist dealt with issues related to intralesional margins.

The Scientific Committee included 150 units from 47 countries, which determined the thematic priorities of the meeting. Out of 120 questions, the panel selected - 41. The identified issues were then analyzed by two different units on different continents, and the organizing and research committees combined the received opinions.
All individuals who participated in the meeting (as researchers or delegates) will be recognized as authors of any subsequent publications related to the International Symposium on Orthopaedic Oncology. The Scientific Committee has also established a collaboration with the Bone & Joint Journal.
