Dr hab. Piotr Henryk Skarżyński appointed member of the Hearing Committee of the American Academy of Otolaryngology

Associate Prof. Piotr H. Skarżyński, MD, PhD, from the Department of Heart Failure and Cardiac Rehabilitation of the II Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University of Warsaw was appointed to the Hearing Committee of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS). It is the world's largest organization representing specialists who treat the ear, nose, throat, and related structures of the head and neck.

To be appointed a member, otolaryngologists must got through an extensive selection process based on background, interest and scientific research and achievement. AAO-HNS Hearing Committee consists of 24 members from across the US. And Dr hab. Piotr H. Skarżyński is the only member from Poland and the youngest.

The Hearing Committee studies, gathers and creates hearing information for members of the Academy and professionals, shared through exhibits, lectures, scientific programs, and printed materials. In addition, members of the Hearing Committee undertake various activities in the field of research and education, including specialist training that may lead to discoveries and setting new trends or patterns. The Committee also performs an advisory role towards scientific organizations, provides information and responds to otolaryngic hearing inquiries.
