Our University had its representation among the speakers. Emilian Snarski, PhD hab., from the Department of Hematology, Oncology and Internal Diseases, in his presentation entitled “How to change anything in medicine?”, was talking about modern methods of bone marrow transplantation. Prof. Marek Postuła – Deputy Dean for English Division and assistant professor in the Chair and Department of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology, took up a subject of correlations between life expectancy and its quality. He also presented a new, unforeseen element of lifestyle medicine as well as how people can actively influence their health. TEDxWUM hosted guests also from abroad: Om Agarwal - a young scientist from Canada, fascinated with artificial intelligence, was introducing deep learning technology, which paved the way for doctors to an easier diagnosis of breast cancer, and Albert Hobohm from Sweden, presented different perspectives concerning the world we all contribute to and provided the listeners with some fresh outlook on everyday life.

About TED and TEDx
TED is a nonpartisan nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks. TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 110 languages. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).
