During the basic course, which was held on November 14-15, 2020, the scientific and didactic staff of the Medical Emergency Department of the FHS was trained. As part of the assessed instructor course, our specialists, under the guidance of the certified instructors representing NAEMT, conducted theoretical and practical classes for the employees of Medical Rescue Teams, Hospital Emergency Departments, as well as the representatives of law enforcement and the military with medical education.
The theoretical part included topics related to initial examination, respiratory system and ventilation, cardiovascular system, secondary examination, craniocerebral trauma, spinal injuries and special situations related to children, elderly and pregnant women. The practical classes included initial examination, face-mask ventilation with a self-inflating bag and the use of supraglottic methods, endotracheal intubation and conicopuncture, as well as secondary examination, the use of tactical stasis, wound packing, decompression of pneumothorax, the use of junctional tourniquet and the methods of patient evacuation.
This is the second certification of the Medical Emergency Department as a training center - a year ago, a TCCC (Tactical Combat Casualty Care) certification was granted from NAEMT. The trainings were conducted as part of the "WUM for WUM" project, which received funding from the National Centre for Research and Development in the "Integrated University Programs for Regional Development" competition.
Medical Emergency Department the first university training center in Poland with PHTLS certificate
After conducting an instructor course in PHTLS (Prehospital Trauma Life Support) on February 20-21 this year, the Medical Emergency Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences was the first university center in Poland to be certified by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT).
