Olympian Konrad Czerniak wins the Medical University of Warsaw Rector's Cup

On Saturday and Sunday, 10 and 11 April 2021, the Arena Grand Prix Polish Cup competition took place at the swimming pool of the Sports and Rehabilitation Centre of the Medical University of Warsaw.

The Warsaw tournament was the last qualification for XXXII Summer Olympic Games, which will be held in Tokyo this year. The competitors also competed for the Cup of His Magnificence Rector of the Medical University of Warsaw, Professor Zbigniew Gaciong, which is awarded to the competitor with the best score in the OPEN category. It was given to Konrad Czerniak, Olympian from London and Rio de Janeiro, World and European Championships medalist, multiple Polish record-holder, usually AZS UMCS Lublin competitor. His score in the 50m butterfly style category was 23.38 seconds. Thus, Konrad Czerniak accumulated 864 points in the FINA classification – the World Swimming Championships.

At the end of the competition the president of the Polish Swimming Federation, Pawel Slominski, presented the Rector, Professor Zbigniew Gaciong, with a commemorative statuette, thanking him for his help and for organizing the competition. The president of PSF also expressed his gratitude to the CSR MUW manager, Karolina Skinder, M.Sc.
