In the Endoscopic Laboratory of the Department of Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine of the Central Clinical Hospital UCC MUW an innovative procedure of removing a prosthesis from the pancreatic duct with the use of SpyGlass Discover cholangioscope was performed.
The patient suffering from recurrent pancreatitis in the setting of biliopancreatic had repeatedly endoscopic placement of prosthesis in the duct of Santorini. During one of the prosthesis replacement procedures, the stent fragmented. It was possible to remove most of the fragments, but one was stuck in the tail segment of the pancreatic duct. Despite repeated attempts, subsequent ERCP procedures, using various ways and tools - it could not be removed. A final attempt was made to evacuate the fragment of the prosthesis using a SpyGlass cholangioscope. The procedure was performed under the supervision and with the expert help of Andrzej Baniukiewicz, MD, PhD, from the University Clinical Hospital in Bialystok.
