Swimming competition at SRC MUW

The preliminaries for the 10th edition of "From Youngster to Olympian" the National Swimming Competition for children organized by AZS Warsaw with the support of the Ministry of Culture, National Heritage and Sport as well as the City of Warsaw took place on 22 May 2021, under the patronage of the Rector of the Medical University of Warsaw, Professor Zbigniew Gaciong, at the Sports and Rehabilitation Centre MUW.

"We are proud that with such a wonderful facility like our Sports and Rehabilitation Center we are helping swimmers to practice. I believe that in the future the Olympic athletes will emerge from the several hundred excellent young athletes present here."- said Rector Professor Zbigniew Gaciong and wished the contestants good luck. Professor Marek Kuch, Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Education, also wished all participants success and added that "the competition is the most important thing, in sports there are medals, but there is also fortitude, which helps to live actively to win your life". The authorities of MUW observed the  competition in the presence of the President of AZS Warszawa, Prof. Marek Konopczyński.

Nearly 750 young swimmers born between 2007 and 2012 and associated with over sixty clubs participated in the competition. The participants competed in the 50-meter pool in such categories as: 50m and 100m freestyle, backstroke and classic, as well as 200m medley. The final of the 10th anniversary of "From Youngster to Olympian" event will be held on June 12, 2021, also at the Sports and Rehabilitation Center of our University.
