On August 11, 59 students of the first- and second-cycle degree of electroradiology, 73 of the second cycle degree of physiotherapy, 21 of the first cycle degree of audio-phonology with hearing care and 50 of the first and second cycle degree of general and clinical speech therapy, officially graduated from the Medical University of Warsaw. This year, the Golden Graduate Laurels awarded by the Rector to the students with the highest average were given to: Olga Choroszewska (electroradiology), Agnieszka Beata Bonikowska (electroradiology), Karolina Barbara Żurek (general and clinical speech therapy) oraz Zofia Pochylska (physiotherapy).
The diploma awarding ceremony began with the entry of the ceremonial procession into the J. Piekarczyk Lecture Hall and the singing of Gaude Mater Polonia and the Anthem of the Medical University of Warsaw. Due to the epidemic reasons, the number of people attending the event was limited.
All the guests were welcomed by the Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences - Dariusz Białoszewski, MD, PhD, prof. of MUW. Prof. Wojciech Lisik, Vice Rector for Clinical Affairs and Investments, was present in the lecture hall as well as the Deans and Vice Deans of the sister faculties: Prof. Joanna Kolmas - Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Agnieszka Mielczarek - Vice Dean of the Faculty of Dental Medicine, Prof. Rafał Krenke - Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Mariusz Gujski, MD, PhD - Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences. The ceremony was also attended by: Prof. Bożena Kociszewska-Najman - Director of the University Doctoral Studies, Irmina Utrata - Director of the Main Library of the MUW, Prof. Olga Jauer-Niworowska - Head of the Department of Speech Therapy and Voice Emission at the Institute of Applied Polish Studies of the University of Warsaw, and Prof. Maciej Krawczyk - President of the National Council of Physiotherapists. Also present were members of the Council of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, representatives of the heads of units providing education, as well as former and current faculty coordinators.
Addressing the main participants of the ceremony, Prof. Dariusz Bialoszewski congratulated them on their success, expressed his pride and satisfaction that despite the difficulties caused by the pandemic, they completed their scientific work, much of which was of research nature. He also wished them not to stop deepening their professional knowledge, to become independent and valued professionals and desirable members of therapeutic teams.
Prof. Marek Kuch encouraged the students not to shy away but to face the problems during their professional journey where they will encounter a lot of difficulties and challenges.
Warm words were also addressed to the students by Prof. Olga Jauer-Niworowska, who wished them to find a way to themselves and those they will help in their chosen profession. Professor Maciej Krawczyk, on the other hand, emphasized in his speech: - Look for authorities in your work.
Aleksandra Kalbarczyk spoke on behalf of the Student Self-Government, and Zofia Pochylska spoke on behalf of the graduates.
The ceremony culminated with the "Gaudeamus Igitur" song, which was traditionally followed by a joint commemorative photo of the graduates and the university authorities.
