The rector emphasized that the professions they have chosen and the work they will perform are extremely necessary, which was made abundantly clear to the public and the authorities by the pandemic. He also highlighted the accomplishments of the faculty, including the position of the particular fields of study in the rankings. He recalled the history of education in the various fields of study.
Mariusz Gujski, MD, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, also addressed warm words to the graduates. He wished them to always bring good energy into the lives of others. The program of the event included, among other things, a speech by Professor Tomasz Rostkowski of the Warsaw School of Economics, who outlined the situation of MUW graduates on the labor market, showing it primarily in its economic dimension and in the context of career opportunities. According to the speaker, the aging population, the lowest number of medics per 1000 inhabitants in the EU and the growing awareness are the main factors why the medical professionals can rest assured about their future.
The diploma awarding ceremony was also attended by Prof. Paweł Włodarski – Vice Rector for International Relations, Development and Promotion, the representatives of the other MUW faculties were present as well: Joanna Kolmas, MD, PhD - Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dariusz Białoszewski, MD, PhD, MUW Professor - Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Tadeusz Grochowiecki - Vice Dean for Student Affairs of the Faculty of Medicine and Prof. Agnieszka Mielczarek - Vice Dean for Education of the Faculty of Dental Medicine. The invitation of the hosts was also accepted by: Dr Tomasz Slawatyniec - Director of Health Department of Mazovian Voivodship Office, Prof. Jerzy Żyżyński - Member of the Monetary Policy Council of the National Bank of Poland, Grzegorz Juszczyk, MD, PhD - Director of the National Institute of Public Health of the National Institute of Hygiene and the Secretary of the Warsaw District Chamber of Nurses and Midwives - Jacek Wojciechowski.
The highlight of the event was the solemn oath ceremony, after which the diplomas were awarded. The graduates with the highest average received congratulatory letters*. Aleksandra Chwedoruk, a representative of the Student Self-Government of the Faculty of Health Sciences, spoke on behalf of the graduates.
