- I would very much like and wish for you that the content of the vow is a real reference for the formation of your attitudes throughout your studies - said the host of the ceremony, Prof. Rafał Krenke, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. The dean emphasized that the students have chosen an exceptional field of study, because as future doctors they will perform a special role, the essence of which is noble and selfless help to sick and suffering people. He called for a committed and responsible approach to education. He wished the acquisition of broad knowledge, professional skills and competencies, which will enable effective patient care, ensure patient trust and respect. Zbigniew Gaciong, Rector of MUW, warmly welcomed students to the new university community. He assured that they have joined a university that teaches to the highest standards, while the diploma is a ticket to the development in top medical centers.
The solemn oath from the students of medicine in Polish was received by Łukasz Koperski, MD, PhD - Vice Dean for Student Affairs of the first and second year, and from English language students - Jacek Sieńko, MD, PhD, Vice Dean for English Division. During the ceremony, students who received the highest number of points during the recruitment process were recognized, among them were: Jakub Kwiatkowski, Kacper Pająk, Jakub Kalisz, Karolina Pałys and Katarzyna Przech. Furthermore, students were appointed to the University Color Party.
Until recently, the act of matriculation was inextricably linked with the ceremony of handing in student record books. Nowadays they are no longer handed, so students were invited to pick up the stamps depicting the logo of the Faculty of Medicine MUW.
The congratulations and colleague’s "advice" were addressed to the gathered by the representatives of the faculty's student self-government: Agata Andrzejczyk and Jannush Kylanathan.
The ceremony, due to the presence of more than 130 international students who will take up their studies at the English Division of the Faculty of Medicine, was conducted in Polish and English.
Among those present at the ceremony were also: Prof. Agnieszka Cudnoch-Jędrzejewska – Vice Rector for for Human Resources, Prof. Marek Kuch – Vice rector for Student Affairs and Education, Prof. Piotr Pruszczyk - Vice Rector for Science and Technology Transfer, Prof. Dorota Olczak-Kowalczyk - Dean of the Faculty of Dental Medicine, Mariusz Gujski, MD, PhD - Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Joanna Peradzyńska. MD, PhD – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Piotr Luliński, MD, PhD – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, heads of scientific and teaching units, representatives of the Faculty Council and faculty self-governments.
