On 30 November, the National Science Centre announced the last list of prize-winners of the MINIATURA 5 competition. Among the more than 300 scientific activities that will receive funding are preliminary/pilot studies designed by researchers from our university. These include temporal lobe epilepsy and eye
Grants will be awarded to:
- Joanna Giebułtowicz from the Department of Bioanalysis and Drug Analysis on the project „Badanie wpływu wybranych substancji czynnych leków występujących w osadach dennych na metabolizm Heterocypris incongruens”
- Tomasz Dziedzic from the Department of Neurosurgery on the project „Anatomia dróg istoty białej w odniesieniu do diagnostyki i leczenia padaczki skroniowej”
- Edyta Krzych-Fałta from the Department of Basic Nursing on the project „Próba prowokacyjna z alergenem pokarmowym-sIgE w popłuczynach nosowych, czy to możliwe?”
- Vira Chumak from the Regenerative Medicine Laboratory on the project „Wstępna analiza potencjalnej roli receptora nukleotydowego P2X4 w nowotworach hematologicznych in vitro”
- Robert Kuthan from the Chair and Department of Medical Microbiology on the project “Badania mikrobiomu w przebiegu infekcyjnych chorób narządu wzroku”
The MINIATURA 5 competition offered grants for preliminary research, pilot studies, queries, scientific internships, research and consultancy trips. Applications were accepted on a rolling basis. There were 949 applications in September and 1,898 in the whole competition. Researchers who obtained their doctoral degree not earlier than 1 January 2009 and have at least one published work or at least one artistic or artistic-scientific achievement were eligible to apply. Researchers could obtain funding of between PLN 5,000 and PLN 50,000 for an activity lasting up to 12 months.
