The initiators of honouring Professor Niemczyk with this honour were the Head of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, AMU, Prof. Rais Kashkienovicz Tulebaev, and the Head of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Gulmira Amantajevna Mukhadijeva. The two universities have a cooperation agreement dating back to 2011. During this time, the team of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery conducted several training courses in Astana (now Nursultan) and participated in several Conferences of the Society of Otorhinolaryngologists of Kazakhstan, presenting invited lectures. At the same time, several people from Kazakhstan participated in courses and conferences organised in Poland. Prof. Niemczyk led a team that carried out more than 50 complex operations in skull base surgery and otosurgery. Colleagues from Kazakhstan participated in these operations.
The ceremony of awarding the degree of Doctor Honoris Causa took place in the presence of the Minister of Health of Kazakhstan, Yelzhan Byrtanov, during the inauguration of the Conference "Modern Pathology Surgery in Otorhinolaryngology of the Head, Neck". The conference was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the 80th anniversary of the work of Prof. Rais Kashkienovich Tulebaev. Presenting the diploma, Rector of the AMU Kamalzhan Nadyrov emphasised the outstanding contribution of Prof. Kazimierz Niemczyk and the team of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology of the Medical University of Warsaw in the development of medicine in Kazakhstan.
Cooperation between our universities can be further developed. There was an initiative to strengthen cooperation in other medical specialities. Such a direction is one of the strategic actions in AMU's international collaboration.
