The "Doctor of Empathy" plebiscite was organized to honor medics who stand out in their daily work with their exceptional attitude towards patients. Such specialists, even during a short visit, are able to give the patient full attention and create an atmosphere of understanding and mutual trust. A doctor's good communication skills translate not only into patient comfort, but also into better treatment results. In a good atmosphere, it is easier to make an accurate diagnosis, and the recommended therapy is more effective because the patient is more likely to follow the instructions that are understandable to him. This is not guesswork, but a fact that is confirmed by many of the world's randomized clinical trials in recent years.
The results of the "Doctor of Empathy" competition have just been announced. Dr. Leszek Kraj was among the winners. Our specialist emphasized that it is a particularly important distinction for him, because it is the patients who propose candidates for this title. Only then does the chapter select the finalists and laureates. So the initiative comes from the patients themselves.
The jury of the plebiscite are representatives of patient organizations that work for the community of patients on a daily basis, supporting the implementation of effective treatment strategies and promoting partner dialogue in the patient-doctor relationship. The jury selects the "Doctor of Empathy" in the formula of open discussion and open voting.
