Doctors are nominated by patients themselves. In doing so, they express their appreciation and respect for the empathy and understanding the doctors showed them during their visit. From this group, the jury board of the plebiscite - representatives of patient organizations that serve the patient community on the daily basis - selects the Doctor with Empathy. The selection shall be made by open discussion and public vote.
The " Doctor with Empathy " contest is organized by Be Communications. The creators of the plebiscite emphasize that the approach to the patient, in addition to knowledge and effective treatment, is also about the ability to create a relationship of understanding and trust. It is based on the willingness to listen and on a partnership conversation. Good communication results in good treatment outcomes: accurate diagnosis and adherence to treatment recommendations.
Dr Leszek Kraj from the Department of Oncology UCK WUM is also a holder of the "Doctor with Empathy" title.
