Rounding out the podium of the overall list were Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Stanford University, respectively.
With an overall score of 70.7, MUW improved its overall ranking by 26 places over last year's ranking. It also ranked 873rd in terms of research achievement, moving up 24 positions. It has again taken the leading position among Polish medical universities, overtaking such universities as: Wroclaw Medical University (926th), Medical University of Lodz (1014th), Medical University of Gdańsk (1099th). Our university is also ranked among the nation's top universities, maintaining last year's 9th place. The highest positions in this edition of the ranking were held by: Jagiellonian University (381st), University of Warsaw (402nd) and AGH University of Science and Technology (590th). In total the list included 40 universities from Poland.
The ranking has been published by The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) since 2012. The methodology is based on seven indicators grouped into four areas:
- Quality of education measured by the number of university’s graduates who have won prestigious academic distinctions relative to the size of the university (25 %)
- Graduate employment measured by the number of university’s graduates who have held top positions at major companies relative to the size of the university (25 %)
- Faculty quality measured by the number of students who have won prestigious academic distinctions (10 %)
- Research Results:
- Research output measured by the total number of research papers (10 %)
- High-Quality Publications measured by the number of research papers appearing in top-ranked/tier journals (10 %)
- the number of research papers published in highly-influential journals (10 %)
- citations of research papers (10 %).
