Lecture of Prof. Mariusz Wąsik „CAR T-cell immunotherapy: the accomplishments and challenges”

Warsaw International Medical Congress for Young Scientists (WIMC) is one of the largest events of its kind in Europe. It provides a unique opportunity for young scientists from Poland and abroad to present their research results and provides a unique platform to interact with other experienced scientists. 

Prof. Mariusz Wąsik is a graduate of Wroclaw Medical Academy (currently the University). After graduation, he worked at the Institute of Immunology and Experimental Therapy of the Polish Academy of Sciences, followed by scientific internships in the United States, including at Harvard University in Boston. After specializing in pathology and hematopathology (also in Boston), he worked for many years at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He is currently head of the Department of Pathology and associate director of Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. Prof. Wąsik conducts scientific research concerning pathogenesis of lymphomas as well as its diagnostic and therapeutic applications. He has authored over 250 publications on disorders of cell signaling, epigenetic, metabolic and functional changes including the acquisition of immunosuppressive properties by lymphoma cells. These publications have been cited over 12,600 times till now. 

The second entitled " Mechanisms of malignant transformation and plasticity of neoplastic lymphoid cells," Prof. Wąsik will deliver on May 7 at 11:30 a.m.

Admission to the lectures does not require prior registration.
