The Accelerator Program is a new addition to the Incubator's offer, aimed at people who want to take concrete actions towards changes in health care. First, student teams had to submit their project idea. As many as 15 teams took part in the recruitment. A total of 38 people got into the program, including 20 from our university. During the four sessions, the teams perfected their projects and gained expert knowledge on Internet marketing, pitching, methods of building a startup. This phase of the program concluded with the selection of the best ideas. For the next five months, selected teams will work on their ideas under the guidance of an implementation expert. They will create prototypes that will be presented during the final gala in October.
The committee, which included representatives from both universities and business, decided to select the following projects:
- MedocSafe - medical patient wallet, a platform for storing and sharing personal medical records. The app allows you to record any specialist recommendations or reflections, which the patient can easily return to at any time, e.g. before the next visit, and recall their treatment history. However, the most innovative things happen during the visit itself. Thanks to the technology based on BLIK, the patient can in a simple and fast way share the information of his choice with a specialist (e.g. doctor, physiotherapist or dietician). The project is implemented by Krzysztof Jankowski, Joanna Rudna, Anna Golinska, Alicja Kluczek and Jakub Bedełek.
- AlzCare - a mobile app designed to help caregivers of people with Alzheimer's disease. Its aim is to provide them with tools facilitating the management of care for the person in need of care, thanks to features such as: advice on dementia care and crisis resolution, a shopping platform with products necessary for the care of the sick person, a support group for caregivers and a planner facilitating the organization of the care process - reminding about medications and doctor appointments. The project is carried out by Mateusz Maternia, Joanna Dyrwal, Julita Dreslerska and Aleksandra Zagajewska.
- Hub4Med - a platform that connects medical professionals with medical facilities that are understaffed/under-staffed. The platform connects medical professionals (doctors, nurses, paramedics, physiotherapists, health care providers, radiologists) looking to take on additional work in their profession with medical facilities that are struggling to find staff to fill staffing/deployment gaps. The nature of the application is similar to platforms such as "Booksy", but in the case of this solution, medical workers will be able to book a one-off duty at the facility that has requested a medical worker for a specific day, time. This is a beneficial solution for both medics and hospitals. HUB4MED will be an intermediary between these parties, making the process safe and fast. The project is implemented by Paulina Pergoł-Metko, Patrycja Czapska and Maja Pawłowska.
The winning teams received a grant of PLN 15,000 each.
The jury also decided to award a special prize to the Medical University of Warsaw, which will include a package of expert consultations. It has been won by the AIsklepios project creators. It aims to help urologists and radiologists, diagnose, localize and assess the malignancy of prostate cancer using AI to analyze ultrasound and MRI images. The authors of the project: Maurycy Moczulski, Jakub Skrajny, Maciej Domaradzki, Ania Seroka will also create a website where it will be possible to upload the results of ultrasound and MRI examinations, which will analyze the algorithm and return information about the diagnosis, location and malignancy of prostate cancer.
