- The aim of the event is to encourage students to broaden their knowledge, as well as to put their laboratory diagnostic skills into practice and to test their ability to analyze and draw conclusions - says Aleksandra Kumorek, a medical analytics student at the MUW, the president of the Student Society of Laboratory Diagnosticians MUW - the competition organizer.
The competition was participated by students from: Medical University of Warsaw, Ludwik Rydygier Medical College in Bydgoszcz, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, Jagiellonian University Medical College, Medical University of Gdansk, Piastów Śląskich Medical University in Wroclaw, Karol Marcinkowski Medical University in Poznan and Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin.
The competition included eight events. Future diagnosticians tested their skills in medical analysis and material collection techniques, laboratory hematology with coagulology, clinical chemistry, blood group serology and transfusiology, microbiological diagnostics and parasitology, immunopathology with immunodiagnosis, molecular biology of medical statistics. The participants could earn a maximum of 355 points. The winning team from Cracow composed of: Aneta Andreasik, Klaudia Rzewuska and Katarzyna Mizera scored 281. The MUW team composed of: Adam Szeleszczuk, Emilia Kruk and Wiktora Klus scored 275 points, while students from Wroclaw: Wiktoria Pietraszewska, Aleksandra Koss and Rafał Rygiel gained 265.25 points.
The competitions were organized on the premises of the Faculty of Pharmacy, the Central Clinical Hospital UCC MUW, the Children's Clinical Hospital UCC MUW as well as in the teaching rooms and laboratories in Pawińskiego Street and Litewska Street.
- According to the competition rules, the university whose team wins the competition becomes the organizer of the next edition. The 2019 winners of the V edition of the National Diagnostic Simulations, held in Krakow, Poland, were a team from our university. That's why this year's host was our university. The preparation and conduct of individual competitions was effectively assisted by the staff of the Department of Medical Biology WNOZ WUM, Department of Pharmaceutical Microbiology WF WUM, Department of Laboratory Medicine WF WUM, the Department of Laboratory Diagnostics and Clinical Immunology of Developmental Age WL WUM, the Department of Physical Chemistry WF WUM, the Department of Applied Pharmacy WF WUM, the Department of Immunopathology of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases WF WUM, the Department of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Diagnostics WF WUM- says Sławomir Białek, PharmD, PhD, supervisor of the STDL WUM.
Members of Students' Society of Laboratory Diagnosticians MUW - Aleksandra Kumorek, Julia Wiśniewska, Aleksandra Kijak, Paulina Kłudkiewicz, Julia Stańczyk, Marcin Śmiarowski and Sławomir Białek, PharmD, PhD, were involved in organizing the event. The event was held under the honorary patronage of the Rector of the MUW - Prof. Zbigniew Gaciong, and the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy MUW, Joanna Kolmas, MD, PhD. The partners of the 6th edition of the National Diagnostic Simulations were: Students Self-Government of the Faculty of Pharmacy MUW, Bulletin of the Faculty of Pharmacy MUW, Polish Society of Laboratory Diagnostics Warsaw Branch, the College of Laboratory Medicine in Poland, Sysmex and HVD Holding Polska companies. Accommodation for the participants was provided by the National Chamber of Laboratory Diagnosticians.
