The Rector noted that the center will be intended for all students (not just those in the medical fields), as well as for doctors and medical professionals of various specialties. The state-of-the-art building will stand on Pawinskiego Street in Ochota district. It will contain high-fidelity rooms, primarily an operating room, delivery room, intensive care rooms. There will be a pre-hospital care space with an ambulance, as well as technical skills rooms. It will be possible to practice wound suturing, dressing, catheterization, etc. there. Classrooms will also be created for medical communication classes involving a simulated patient.
When asked why the creation of the CMS is so important for students, Dr. Marcin Kaczor, CMS Project Manager, emphasized two points. First, the center gives students the opportunity to make mistakes in a safe environment. Students can look at what they did wrong, correct the mistake, remember it well and not make it in the future. The second issue is the possibility of learning in interdisciplinary teams. - We aim to teach in teams that include not only medical students, but also nursing students, paramedics, etc. The idea is that people learn how to interact with each other at this early stage. Because in medicine, cooperation is fundamental - says Dr. Kaczor.
The contract for the construction of the center was signed by HM Rector of MUW Prof. Zbigniew Gaciong, Jolanta Ilków, WUM's Bursar, and Piotr Kledzik, CEO of PORR SA, the general contractor.
In addition to the signers of the document, the event was attended on the part of the MUW by: Dr. Marcin Kaczor - CMS Project Manager, Chancellor Marta Kijak-Bloch, Vice Chancellor for Investment Wojciech Bogusz, Vice Chancellor for Maintenance Jaroslaw Prugar, legal counsel Wojciech Rajchel and head of the Investment Department Sameh Mizer. On the contractor's side by: Marek Matwiszyn - director of the East region; Agnieszka Sadkowska-Penczonek - project director, Jaroslaw Smialek - director of the Medical Construction Office, and Jaroslaw Sibinski - operations director of the Medical Construction Office.
