More than 40 projects within the discipline of pharmaceutical sciences and more than 40 in biological sciences also received funding. Full list is available at the NCN website.
Along with educating students, scientific study is an equally important area of our university's activities. Implemented either independently or in cooperation with other centers, they strengthen our position among national, European and global scientific centers.
NCN-funded projects are just some of the projects underway at MUW. Others are financed, for example, by grants from the Ministry of Education and Science, the Medical Research Agency or the National Center for Research and Development, as well as by international funds and European funds. Currently, MUW is conducting a total of 230 research and teaching projects worth PLN 548 million. Research focuses on a variety of fields in modern medicine.
Thus, in June, MUW received more than 12 million for a project on kidney disease in children. In May, two of our scientists received grants for their projects in the SONATA NCN competition. The first focuses on determining the role of platelets and their function in epigenetic changes in Wilson's disease, a rare disorder of copper metabolism. The second concerns the development of automated methods for creating real coronary vessel models and simulating procedures under near-real conditions using virtual reality technology to facilitate angioplasty, the standard for treating coronary stenosis.
Our scientists are also the authors of many didactic projects designed to improve the level of education of students in all fields of study offered by our university.
The list of MUW projects is available at the website.
