Meetings were held on October 18 and 19 at the Library and Information Center. On the first day of the visit Prof. Zbigniew Gaciong, Rector of MUW, as well as Deans Prof. Rafal Krenke, Prof. Dorota Olczak-Kowalczyk and Prof. Mariusz Gujski presented our university and individual departments. Prof. Gujski's presentation was made in Ukrainian and was applauded by the Ukrainian delegation. Present at the meeting was Prof. Agnieszka Cudnoch-Jędrzejewska, Vice Rector for Human Resources, who initiated the creation of a team at our university responsible for multifaceted activities in the field of cooperation with medical universities in Ukraine.
From the Ukrainian side, spoke Prof. Iurii Kuchyn, who presented the structure and achievements of Bogomolets Medical University. He also showed moving photos depicting the war damage at the University.
Visitors from Ukraine were particularly interested in the educational quality assurance system, both functioning inside the university and external accreditation systems. This issue was the subject of presentations by Prof. Michał Grąt, Director of the Doctoral School; Prof. Aneta Nitsch-Osuch, Vice Dean for Curriculum and Educational Quality; and Piotr Dziechciarz, MD, PhD, Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Quality of Education.
On the second day of the visit, the activities of MUW departments were discussed by their heads. Speakers included Prof. Hanna Szajewska, head of the Department of Pediatrics; Prof. Marta Struga, head of the Chair and Department of Biochemistry; Prof. Agnieszka Mielczarek, head of the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Dental Medicine; Prof. Marcin Grabowski, head of the First Chair and Department of Cardiology; Prof. Boleslaw Samoliński, head of the Department of Prevention of Environmental Hazards, Allergology and Immunology; Dorota Włodarczyk, MD, PhD, head of the Department of Health Psychology; Beata Tarnacka, MD, PhD, head of the Department of Rehabilitation; and Dr. Antonina Doroszewska, head of the Department of Medical Communication.
After the lecture part, the Ukrainian guests visited selected departments at the Central Clinical Hospital at Banacha Street and the Children's Clinical Hospital at Żwirki i Wigury Street.
- Bogomolets University is the largest and most developed medical university in Ukraine. It conducts a lot of research, the scientific level of which is very high. Therefore, there is a great opportunity for our two universities to establish scientific cooperation in many areas. I am very keen on this - stressed Prof. Gałązkowski. And he added that decisions have already been made that result in the exchange of researchers. PhD students, professors and lecturers from Ukraine are coming to MUW to do internships.
- Prof. Piotr Pruszczyk, Vice Rector for Science and Technology Transfer MUW, together with Prof. Sergi Zemskov, Vice Rector for Research and Innovation at the Bogomolets National Medical University, will establish the general principles of scientific cooperation between the universities. But we are already taking some actions today, on an ongoing basis - noted Prof. Robert Gałązkowski - It turned out, for example, that there is a need for a modern program in physiology at Bogomolets University. Thus, there was a meeting with the staff of the Chair and Department of Experimental and Clinical Physiology and its head, Prof. Cudnoch-Jędrzejewska. We will support the Ukrainian side in preparing a program and implementing physiology teaching in Kiev. We are also planning the participation of teachers and doctors from Kiev in training courses organized by the Department of Emergency Medicine in the field of battlefield medicine, the so-called PC3 - Prof. Gałązkowski announced.
