The event, held on October 23 this year, was organized by the National Agency for Academic Exchange. The goal: to show young people from around the world the value of Polish universities. - At the New York meeting, we want to connect young people with Polish roots with Polish universities and academic institutions. In this way we can shape in these young people not only the drive for knowledge, but also Polish values, national identity or the desire to explore the history of our country, but also attitudes of openness to the world - said the head of NAWA's higher education promotion team abroad Łukasz Gazur. Among the domestic universities that decided to join NAWA's initiative and convince Polish youth to study in Poland was the Medical University of Warsaw.
Questions about medical studies came up most often at the fair. Our representatives, Prof. Pawel Wlodarski, Vice Rector for International Relations, Development and Promotion, Jacek Sienko, MD, PhD, Vice Dean for Student Affairs of the English Division Faculty of Medicine, and Krystyna Jarzab, Head of the Dean's Office of the English Division, talked about recruitment and the conditions for studying at MUW, opportunities for scientific and non-scientific development, and social activities.
- Our stand was visited by dozens of people seriously interested in studying medicine in Poland. We explained to them that in order to study in our country, they do not need to have a Polish school-leaving exam - MUW offers English-language studies at the English Division for foreign candidates. This is a very good alternative, firstly because we provide high quality education at a much lower price than American universities. In addition - our diploma gives you the opportunity to work in Europe, not only in Poland, but for example in England or Switzerland - explained Prof. Pawel Włodarski after returning from the fair.
In addition to MUW, the following presented themselves at the fair: Poznan University of Medical Sciences, Medical University of Wroclaw, University of Agriculture in Krakow, Jagiellonian University, University of Warsaw, Collegium Civitas, University of Humanities and Economics in Lodz, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan.
- We are very pleased that the best Polish universities wanted to take part in this meeting and present their offer to Polish youth in the United States. We believe that thanks to this we can show how high the level of Polish science and higher education is, but also that Poland is a country of great opportunities - the Polish vice consul Stanislaw Starnawski noted at the opening of the event.
The Polish delegation also included representatives of the Science Policy Committee at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education: Małgorzata Podolak, MD, PhD, Prof. of UMCS, and Dr. Mariusz Wicha.
The next Polish Universities Fair will be held in London. MUW will also have representatives there.
