In this year's 22nd edition of the program, 6 outstanding Polish female researchers were honored for their exceptional contributions to science and their passion and commitment to their work. In making the selection, the jury, chaired by Prof. Ewa Łojkowska, MD, PhD, took into account scientific achievements, experience and possible practical use of research in the future.
Dr. Monika Gawałko received the award in the postdoctoral category. Our awardee's work focuses on building an infrastructure for remote monitoring of patients and their risk factors for atrial fibrillation.
The L'Oréal for Women and Science program is implemented by L'Oréal Poland in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science, the Polish Committee for UNESCO and the Polish Academy of Sciences. The Polish edition of the program has been running since 2001. Its aim is to support the research of women, who, despite their great contribution to the development of science, account for only 30% of all scientists. In previous editions, scholarships have been awarded to 117 outstanding female researchers working in Poland.
