In the fields of medical sciences, pharmaceutical sciences and health sciences, we earned "A" categories. We received these high grades for our scientific activities in 2017-2021.
As a result of the evaluation, scientific categories are assigned to individual scientific disciplines. These can be: A+, A, B+, B or C. The amount of these grades determines, among other things, whether the university is allowed to conduct academic studies and award degrees.
By the final decision of the Minister of Education and Science, the science disciplines represented by MUW were given an A category:
- Medical Sciences: A
- Pharmaceutical Sciences: A
- Health Sciences: A
A high score in these three areas paves the way for us to apply for research university status and higher subsidy amounts.
Evaluation criteria
The re-evaluation was conducted on the basis of three criteria:
- Scientific or artistic level of conducted scientific activity - evaluated on the basis of scientific articles, monographs, editing of monographs and authorship of chapters in monographs, as well as granted patents for inventions.
- Financial effects of scientific research and development work - evaluated on the basis of the amount of funds obtained for research projects in competitions organized by EU institutions, foreign institutions, NCBR, NCN, ABM. The criterion also takes into account the commercialization of the results of research or development work, as well as research conducted on behalf of entities outside the higher education and science sector.
- The impact of scientific activity on the functioning of society and the economy - assessed on the basis of descriptions and evidence of the relationship between the research conducted and change in, for example, health care.
