The Rector and the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences went to Ivano-Frankivsk to hand over, among other things, trainers for learning how to stop hemorrhage and other equipment that will be used to train doctors and medics. These, in turn, will provide aid to those injured during hostilities.
The agreement, which they signed on the spot, provides for the establishment of a training center at the Clinical Center for Emergency and Disaster Medicine in Ivano-Frankivsk. Under the agreement, cooperation will be possible in training medical personnel in battlefield medicine, as well as equipment support. Substantive supervision of the training on behalf of the MUW will be performed by Dr. Marcin Podgórski from the Department of Emergency Medicine of the Faculty of Health Sciences MUW.
The document was signed on the Ukrainian side by Myron Mateiko, director of the Clinical Center for Emergency and Disaster Medicine in Ivano-Frankivsk, and Prof. Mykola Rożko, Rector of the National Medical University in Ivano-Frankivsk.
- The signing of the agreement is a continuation of our cooperation, which has been going on for a year - explains Prof. Zbigniew Gaciong. - We have organized a series of training courses in Ukraine on advanced life-saving techniques, including battlefield medicine. Our instructors are NATO-certified. We support the Ukrainians with knowledge and experience.
- During this visit alone, we donated over 200,000 PLN worth of equipment for teaching battlefield medicine to Ukraine. Plus first-aid kits and equipment for the immediate use by Ukrainian rescuers - says Prof. Robert Gałązkowski. - In addition, we brought a shipment of medicines for the Ivano-Frankivsk regional hospital.
