New Deputy Minister of Health from our university

Prof. Urszula Demkow, Head of the Department of Laboratory Diagnostics and Clinical Immunology of the Developmental Age MUW, has been appointed Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Health. Prime Minister Donald Tusk signed the appointment on January 4 this year.

The new deputy minister is not only a long-time employee, but also a graduate of the Medical University of Warsaw. She has four specializations: internal medicine, allergology, laboratory diagnostics and immmunology. In addition, she is an expert of the European Commission for financing projects in the field of medicine and Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Equal Treatment at MUW. In her scientific work, Prof. Urszula Demkow focuses on issues related to rare diseases, lung diseases, allergic diseases, clinical and experimental immunology, genetics and laboratory diagnostics, especially in connection with respiratory diseases, cancer and systemic diseases in adults and children. She is the author of 468 full-text scientific papers, 56 chapters in books, 6 monographs, 430 conference reports published in peer-reviewed journals.
