Prof. Dagmara Mirowska-Guzel, Head of the Department of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology MUW, was elected president of the Society. In addition, Prof. Aneta Nitsch-Osuch, Head of the Department of Social Medicine and Public Health MUW, was elected President of the Faculty V of Medical Sciences, while Prof. Paweł Włodarski, Vice Rector for International Relations, Development and Promotion MUW and Head of the Department of Research Methodology MUW, was elected Secretary of the Faculty.
TNW was founded in 1907 and was a continuation of the Warsaw Society of Friends of Science. The purpose of the society is to support and develop scientific research in all fields of knowledge by organizing scientific meetings, lectures and readings, as well as announcing competitions for scientific papers, and awarding prizes, and conducting publishing activities.
TNW's current membership is about 500 scholars, mainly affiliated with Warsaw scientific institutions. TNW is divided into six thematic departments: linguistics and history of literature, historical sciences, social and philosophical sciences, mathematical and physical sciences, biological sciences, medical sciences, technical sciences with an agricultural section.
