MUW students winners of "Great Synapse 2023" competition

They competed against their colleagues from 14 other medical universities from all over Poland. And they succeeded! They took places on the podium both in the individual and team competition.

In the individual classification, Adrian Bednarek, a representative of the Faculty of Medicine MUW, turned out to be the best. In the team competition, the team from MUW, consisting of Adrian Bednarek, Stanislaw Felis, Jan Jurak, won third place, giving way only to teams from the Medical University of Piastów Śląskich in Wroclaw and the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice.

What the competition was about

A total of 45 students took part in the competition. During the individual competition, they solved a test consisting of 100 questions. Then the 10 participants with the best results answered 10 true/false questions in writing. In the team competition, teams of three had to solve practical tasks in hemodynamics, basics of electrocardiography and cardiac work.

Who prepared our students

Our students were prepared for the competition in the Department of Experimental and Clinical Physiology MUW by Dr. Michał Kowara. Substantive and didactic supervision of the team was provided by Prof. Agnieszka Cudnoch-Jędrzejewska and Dr. Liana Puchalska.

This was the fifth edition of the National Competition of Physiological Knowledge "Great Synapse". This year the organizer was the Department of Physiology of the Silesian Medical University in Katowice. The competition was held on May 29 and 30.
Noteworthy, this is the second year in a row that our students stand on the podium. Indeed, in last year's competition they took first and - double - third place in the individual classification and first place in the team classification.
