Accreditations from the European Association of Nuclear Medicine for the Department of Nuclear Medicine of the Medical University of Warsaw

The accreditations concern standards for performing PET examinations with tracers labeled with Fluorine 18F and Gallium 68Ga and for theranostic procedures in the radioisotope treatment of patients.

The EARL certificate attests high quality of PET/CT tests performed, compliance with European standards and enables direct comparison of examination results from other facilities holding such certificates. Thanks to it, the Department of Nuclear Medicine can participate in multicenter clinical trials. The certificate applies to the most frequently used tracers based on fluorine and gallium (glucose derivatives, somatostatin analogs or PSMA), which corresponds to the majority of PET examinations performed in Poland.

-The certificate in the field of radioisotope treatment validates the department’s many years of experience in the treatment of various diseases and organs, for example thyroid diseases using radioactive iodine 131I, the treatment of inflammatory joint diseases, as well as the oncological treatment of neuroendocrine tumors, or the unique treatment of brain tumors on a global scale - emphasized Jolanta Kunikowska, head of the Department of Nuclear Medicine of the Medical University of Warsaw.

Currently only two facilities in Poland have the EARL certificate in theranostics.
