Scientific and training conference on laparoscopic surgery has ended

This is the ninth edition of the event. It was held on May 11-12 this year at the University Dental Center. The conference is considered one of the most intensive laparoscopic suturing courses in our country. As in previous editions, the practical part was led by Professor Thomas Carus, a recognized authority in the field of minimally invasive surgery.

Organizers and presenters

Prof. Thomas Carus is a head of the Department of General, Gastroenterological and Vascular Surgery, Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery at Bassum Hospital in Germany. For many years the German edition of the course has been organized by Prof. Carus in Monchengladbach, Bremen, Hanover, Hamburg, Berlin, as well as in other foreign centers for advanced laparoscopic techniques.

The organizer of the conference at MUW has for years been the Chair and Department of General, Gastroenterological and Oncological Surgery UCC MUW, headed by Prof. Maciej Słodkowski with the support of the Center for Postgraduate Education MUW. The scientific and organizational director of the event is Dr. Tomasz Guzel.

Program

The program included, among other things, laparoscopic knot tying and the performance of gastrointestinal anastomoses, both in stapler technique - using "staplers" and with hand suturing. Doctors practiced on specially prepared animal tissues using laparoscopic trainers and staplers.
