The competition was held on March 19. It was organized by the Chair and Department of General, Transplantation and Liver Surgery UCC MUW, the Warsaw Branch of the Association of Polish Surgeons and the Polish Foundation for the Development of Robotic Surgery with support from Synektik.
- The goal of the competition is to get students interested in surgical specialization and expand their surgical knowledge, regardless of their experience in suturing procedures, says Maciej Krasnodębski, MD, PhD, from the Chair and Department of General, Transplant and Liver Surgery UCC MUW, coordinator of surgery classes for students of the Faculty of Medicine.
Winners of the competition
Twenty students of our university wishing to test their surgical skills took part in the competition. First place went to Maja Lurbecka (2nd year, medical field of study), second place to Monika Lis (5th year, medical field of study) and third place to Piotr Więckowski (6th year, medical field of study).
The prizes - a series of surgical atlases and books on surgical topics - were presented to the winners by Prof. Michał Grąt, Head of the Chair and Department of General, Transplant and Liver Surgery UCC MUW, Maciej Krasnodębski, MD, PhD, and Dr. Paweł Dutkiewicz of the Polish Foundation for the Development of Robotic Surgery.
Lectures on clinical practice in various surgical departments
Young surgeons and residents of Warsaw medical institutions shared about career opportunities and the course of specialization in various hospitals: Emilia Kruk, MD, and Alicja Barysz, MD, from the Department of General, Transplant and Liver Surgery UCC MUW, Mateusz Sala, MD, from the Department of Colorectal, General and Oncological Surgery at the Medical Center for Postgraduate Education, Bielański Hospital, and Magdalena Szczotko, MD, from the Department of General and Oncological Surgery at Czerniakowski Hospital.
