On October 21, Professor Jolanta Małyszko’s election for a position in the Executive Committee of KDIGO was confirmed. Prof. Małyszko, from the Department of Nephrology, Dialysis and Internal Diseases at MUW, is the only polish representative in the 20-person management body of KDIGO.
The first MUW Open Fulbright Lecture took place on Friday, October 18 at Medical University of Warsaw’s Main Library. Students from the English Division and ERASMUS as well as other auditors filled the lecture room to listen to Dr. József Böröcz’s talk on the Sociology of Global Health and Inequality.
On Wednesday, October 9, MUW University Dental Center was officially opened. Located on Medical University of Warsaw’s main campus on 6 Binieckiego Str., the MUW University Dental Center is the largest dental center in Poland and the best equipped amongst Polish medical universities.
The world famous vascular surgeon, Prof. Peter Gloviczki visited the I Department of General and Vascular Surgery Clinic at the University’s Bródno Hospital and the Department of General, Vascular and Transplant Surgery Clinic last week.
Łukasz Zadrożny, PhD from the Department of Dental Propaedeutics and Prophylaxis at the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry received first prize for his poster which he presented during the Digital Dentistry Society Global Conference which took place October 3-5 in Baden-Baden.
Incision Academy is a modern e-learning educational platform containing 380 filmed treatment procedures, including e.g: general, vascular, gastrointestinal, traumatology and orthopaedical surgery, gynaecology, midwifery, and urology. An access to the Incision Academy is possible thanks to agreement between the Medical University of Warsaw and Incision Group B.V., MUW's medical students will receive access to the educational platform Incision Academy.
The National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) published the list of institutions that have received funding from the PROM Programme and Medical University of Warsaw (MUW) was among the recipients. MUW received the maximum amount of funding in the sum of PLN 1170 694.00.
On August 15, the 2019 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), also known as the Shanghai Ranking, was released. Medical University of Warsaw (MUW) was listed for the second time in the 701-800 rank. The only other Polish medical university listed in the 2019 ARWU was Medical University of Silesia (901-1000 rank). Poland’s Jagiellonian University maintained its position (301-400 rank) in the renown Top 500, as well as University of Warsaw (401-500 rank).
