Superhelisa
The National Competition of Biochemical Knowledge “Superhelisa 2019” dominated by the second year students of the MUW’s 1st Faculty of Medicine! Marta Rogalska took first and Kuba Retecki second place in the individual competition. Together with Olga Grodzka they also won the team classification.

Agata Raniszewska, MA, a PhD student at the Department and Chair of Pathology at MUW was a Poster Presenter at the European Lung Cancer Congress (ELCC 2019). Her poster presentation on "Characterization and the role of PD-L1 positive lung cancer stem cells in lymph nodes metastasis" received the Best Poster Award in the "Metastases to and from lung" category. 
13th International West-East Dental Conference
Medical University of Warsaw’s 13th International West-East Dental Conference took place on 12 April. The event was an opportunity for students to learn from exceptional academics and professionals from Poland and abroad about the latest achievements and current issues in the field of dentistry. HM Prof. Mirosław Wielgoś, Rector of Medical University of Warsaw (MUW) accepted to be patron of the Conference.
Professor Zbigniew Gałązka
Medical University of Warsaw Clinic of General, Endocrinological and Vascular Surgery, headed by Prof. Zbigniew Gałązka, has been invited to collaborate with the ESVS Academy (European Society of Vascular Surgery Academy) in developing and managing education and training activities. 
NIAID/NIH Delegation visit to MUW
On March 25, Medical University of Warsaw hosted US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and National Institutes of Health (NIH) delegations. The visit was a direct result of the signing of an agreement on cooperation in biomedical research between the Polish Minister of Health Łukasz Szumowski and US Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar in Washington on July 14, 2018. The agreement gives Polish academic institutions, such as MUW, and American institutions such as NIH, the framework to undertake more detailed cooperation contracts.

The Medical University of Warsaw has been certified by the ERIC (European Research Initiative on Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia), which authorizes the study of mutations in the TP53 gene with advanced NGS (next-generation sequencing) technology. WUM is the only center in Poland with certification for Sanger sequencing and NGS.  Genetic testing is conducted by Dr. Tomasz Stokłosa and his team at the Department of Immunology in cooperation with prof. Rafał Płoski and his team at the Department of Medical Genetics.
Open Day at MUW
On Saturday, March 16, Medical University of Warsaw welcomed on campus crowds of young people who came to Open Day - an annual event organized by the Information and Promotion Office team. Visitors had the opportunity to listen to interesting presentations and lectures, participate in workshops, and meet with faculty members and students.
Tel-Aviv Medical College premed students
English Division medical program hosted potential students from Tel-Aviv Medical College premed program (Dr. Shahar Geva, Director) and representatives of Lin's International Education Management Group (LIEMG) on Monday, 28 January.
Alexander Woltersom
Alexander Woltersom, a sixth year medical student at Medical University of Warsaw English Division, was awarded 1st place for research presented at the 37th Annual International Symposium: Clinical Update in Anesthesiology, Surgery and Perioperative Medicine.
The first Thermal Ablation of a Lung Tumor in Poland
On 17 January 17, a team of surgeons from the II Department of Clinical Radiology and II Clinic of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Therapy of Medical University of Warsaw’s UCK hospital clinic on  Banacha street performed the first thermal ablation of a lung tumor in Poland. The patient was a 50-year-old male being treated at the Hematology, Oncology and Internal Diseases Clinic and the General, Gastroenterological and Oncological Surgery Clinic.  The pulmonary and liver metastases from colorectal cancer were destroyed during this single surgery.
