MUW researchers from the Department of Immunology headed by Prof. Jakub Gołąb and Polish biotechnological company OncoArendi identified a novel mechanism of antitumor immune responsiveness by mitigating arginase (ARG1) activity. This groundbreaking research has been published in the latest issue of Nature Communications.
Class of 2019 English Division Graduation
On July 3, Graduates of the 2nd Faculty of Medicine English Division received their MD diploma.  Ninety six students graduated from the 6-year program and twenty two from the Advanced program.  The new young MDs came from, amongst other countries, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Norway, Ireland, Australia, Great Britain and Malaysia.

MUW students from the 1st and the 2nd Faculty of Medicine were top winners at the 3rd Great Synapse national competition, which took place in Lublin on June 18-19.
Transilvania University
Prof. Barańczyk-Kuźma, MD, PhD, Rector’s Plenipotentiary for ERASMUS and CEEPUS Coordination and the former Head of the Chair and Department of Biochemistry, has been awarded the title of the HONORARY PROFESSOR at the Transilvania University in Brasov. The award ceremony took place on June 4th, 2019 in Brasov, at the Medical Faculty Council session, chaired by the Dean, Prof. Marius Moga.

Albert Stachura - a 5th years student of the 1st Faculty of Medicine, a member of the Experimental Medicine Students’ Scientific Club at the Department of Methodology, won the “Immunology” session - one of the 22 oral sessions that took place during the International Student Congress of (bio) Medical Sciences 2019 ( ISCOMS), June 3-7, at the University Medical Center in Groningen in the Netherlands.

MUW was granted funding in the amount of 99,995.00PLN within the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) International Alumni (IA) program to organize an English Division Student Alumni (EDSA) conference and reunion. WUM’s project responds to IA’s main aim to support universities by financing projects that focus on reaching out and engaging alumni with their alma mater in Poland.
English Division candidates visit MUW Banacha Campus
On Friday, May 31, English Division Development Officer, Mrs. Delfina Święćkowska gave a tour to a group of candidates who came to Warsaw to write MUW’s entrance exam to the English Division 6-year Medical Program, 5-year Dentistry Program and 5,5-year Pharmacy Program taking place on the following day.
MUW at Chinese Embassy Open Day
On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Poland, the Chinese Embassy in Poland organized an Open Day on May 16 at the official residence on 1 Bonifraterska St. Representing Medical University of Warsaw were executive members of EDSG Elwira Bukowska, president and Jannush Nathan, vice-president and Delfina Święćkowska, English Division Development Officer. Other guests included representatives of different Polish universities, primary and secondary schools, Polish businesses and the general public.
Alexander Woltersom
Alexander Woltersom, a 6th year student of the MUW’s English Division, won second place in the Young Cardiac Surgeon Award competition which was held during the 68th Congress of the European Society of Cardiovascular and Endovascular Surgery (ESCVS) in Netherlands, May 22-25, 2019. Out of over 300 scientific papers submitted for the competition, 7 were selected for special prizes.
Visitors from Rwanda
Ms Djasmin Namwezi, CEO of SwC Services based in Kigali, Rwanda toured MUW Banacha campus on May 28.  Accompanying her was a student from Rwanda interested in studying medicine and SwC Services staff.
