The Polish Ministry of Health (MZ) and the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate (GIS) have developed information materials on COVID-19. Please take the time to read this important information.

Maciej Dawidowski Phd, from the Department of Drug Technology and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology of the Faculty of Pharmacy was part of the international team of scientists awarded the Erwin Schrödinger Prize. This distinction is awarded by the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres for the outstanding scientific achievements and technological innovations at the interface between various disciplines including: medicine, life sciences and engineering. The award ceremony took place on 12th October  in Berlin during the annual meeting of the members of the Association.

On 5 October 2020, in the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation of the MUW headed by Artur Stolarczyk, MD, PhD, at the Międzylesie Specialist Hospital in Warsaw, the first implantation of a partial, individual endoprosthesis - Episurf so-called "custom-made", prepared especially for the damaged part of the joint, was performed in Poland.

From September 29 to October 2, new first year medical and dental students were invited to join a variety of events online and on campus as part of the orientation week organized by the English Division Student Government and Dr. Magdalena Łazarewicz. Students had the opportunity to meet their teachers online, get tips and tricks from their older peers, visit the campus, and much more.

On 5 October 2020, the Nobel Prize Week began along with a series of six meetings organized by the Center for Dialogue and Cooperation of the University of Warsaw. During the first meeting, the scientists and experts from the Medical University of Warsaw and the University of Warsaw introduced the achievements of the Nobel Prize winners in physiology or medicine.

The Medical University of Warsaw celebrated the inauguration of the 2020/2021 academic year on October 5. The ceremony was led by Prof. Zbigniew Gaciong, the newly elected Rector of the Medical University of Warsaw for the 2020-2024 term. The inaugural lecture was delivered by Associate Prof. Dorota Folga-Januszewska, a Professor of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Her lecture was entitled "The Art of Healing and Healing with Art."

On September 26, 2020 during the Congress of the Polish Society of Vascular Surgery the new authorities of this organization were elected. Professor Zbigniew Gałązka - Head of the Clinic of General, Endocrinological and Vascular Surgery of the MUW UCC became the President-elect of the PSVS. Prof. Tomasz Jakimowicz from the Department of General  Vascular and Transplantation Surgery of the MUW UCC took over the function of the Secretary-General.

Prof. Justyna Kowalska from the Department of Adult’s Infectious Diseases received the professor degree from the hands of the President of the Republic of Poland - Andrzej Duda

The application submitted in the GOSPOSTRATEG II competition by the consortium of Medical Center of Postgraduate Education (leader), Medical University of Warsaw, SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Kozminski University will receive funding from the National Center for Research and Development in the amount of PLN 14 452 346.25.The amount granted to our University is PLN 3 211 375,00

Anna Helena Mazurek - a 6th year pharmacy student of the Faculty of Pharmacy, MUW, and also a PhD student of the Doctoral School of MUW, received the French Government Scholarship in the amount of EUR 13 420 for the realization of a combined doctoral degree (International Dual Degree PhD, doctorate en cotutelle) on the PhD thesis: "Analysis of the selected endocrine disrupting chemicals and their binding to the estrogen receptor with the application of QM and MM calculations."
